Terms of Service
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the EdgeNFC platform — the hosted tap-to-verify service, the customer web app, the verification and management APIs, the Android provisioning app, and the subscriptions and licenses sold for them (collectively, the "Service"). The Service is software only; we do not sell physical tags (see section 6). By creating an account, accepting these Terms at signup, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Acceptable use
You agree that you will not, and will not permit any third party to:
- use the Service to produce, distribute, or authenticate illegal or counterfeit tags, or to misrepresent the origin, authenticity, or ownership of any good;
- abuse the verification API — including automated scraping, brute-force of tag parameters, denial-of-service, or attempts to circumvent rate limits or the cryptographic verification of NTAG 424 DNA SDM tags;
- reverse-engineer, resell, or provide the Service to third parties except as expressly permitted by your plan;
- upload unlawful content, infringe intellectual-property rights, or violate the privacy rights of the people who tap your tags.
The public tap/verify path processes a tag UID and counter strictly to deliver the verification the tag exists to perform. You are responsible for the lawful use of the tags you provision and for any destination URL you configure for a tap redirect.
2. API rate limits
Access to the verification and management APIs is subject to rate limiting to protect availability and prevent abuse. The public verification endpoint is rate-limited per client and per system; exceeding the limit returns an HTTP 429 response. Management API limits, quotas (including the active-tag limit), and feature availability depend on your plan (see Section 3 and the pricing page). We may adjust limits to preserve platform stability; material changes to programmatic limits will be communicated in advance where practicable.
3. Service levels (SLA)
Uptime commitments depend on your subscription plan. The following targets restate the plan matrix; the specific uptime percentages are business commitments still to be confirmed:

Scheduled maintenance, causes outside our reasonable control, and your breach of these Terms are excluded from SLA calculations. Remedies for missed SLA targets (e.g. service credits) will be defined here before publish — ⚠︎ placeholder.
4. Billing, refunds & cancellation
- Subscriptions are billed in advance through Stripe on a recurring monthly basis at the price shown at checkout. The free Sandbox plan requires no payment method.
- Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you retain paid features until then and are not charged again. You can manage or cancel your subscription from the billing portal in Settings.
- Refunds for subscriptions are handled per our published policy — ⚠︎ placeholder refund window. Hardware refunds are covered in Section 6.
- Downgrades / non-payment. A failed payment moves the account to a past-due state; unresolved non-payment downgrades the account to the free Sandbox plan, which may reduce your active-tag quota and disable paid features.
5. Warranty disclaimer & liability
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, to the maximum extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that verification will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that a tag cannot be physically removed, destroyed, or misused outside the cryptographic protocol.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, EdgeNFC's aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the Service is limited to the amounts you paid to us in the twelve months preceding the claim, and we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law, including non-excludable statutory rights of consumers. 6. Tags & third-party hardware
EdgeNFC sells software and subscriptions only. We do not sell, stock, ship, fulfil, or invoice physical NFC tags, and we are not a party to any hardware purchase you make. The Service provisions and verifies tags you obtain from someone else.
6.1 Where you buy tags is your choice
EdgeNFC requires NTAG 424 DNA tags. We publish a buying guide at /hardware which recommends GoToTags as a supplier we would use ourselves and shows approximate prices for planning. That is a recommendation only. GoToTags is an independent third party — not our agent, partner, subcontractor, or sub-processor — we receive no commission on your purchase, and we neither see nor process your order or shipping details. Any purchase is a contract between you and that supplier, governed by their terms. Prices we display come from the supplier, are indicative, and may be out of date. Any genuine NTAG 424 DNA tag from any supplier works with the Service.
6.2 No hardware warranty, delivery, or returns obligation
Because we do not sell the hardware, we give no warranty on tags of any kind — including as to merchantability, fitness for purpose, batch yield, or defect rate — and we have no obligation regarding delivery, shipping, customs, replacement, returns, or refunds for hardware. Defective, dead, missing, delayed, or wrongly-specified tags are a matter between you and the supplier who sold them to you. Compatibility guidance we publish (for example, that NTAG 213/215/216 chips cannot work with the Service) is technical information offered in good faith, not a warranty, and it is your responsibility to confirm what you are buying before you buy it.
6.3 Your statutory rights
Nothing in this section limits or waives non-excludable statutory rights you may have as a consumer — including under the EU Sale of Goods framework, the UK Consumer Rights Act 2015, or the Australian Consumer Law. Those rights in respect of hardware run against the seller of that hardware; your rights in respect of the software and subscriptions we do sell are unaffected and are addressed elsewhere in these Terms.
6.4 If we sell hardware in the future
We built, and may later re-open, a first-party store for EdgeNFC-branded blanks. It is currently closed and no hardware can be bought from us. If it re-opens, the applicable sales, fulfillment, shipping, defect-allowance, and returns terms will be published here before any such sale and will apply only to purchases made from us — they will not apply retroactively, and they do not apply to anything you buy from a third party today. 7. Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time from Settings. We may suspend or terminate your access for breach of these Terms, non-payment, or unlawful use. On termination, your systems are revoked and tags provisioned under them will no longer verify (a tap returns an unknown/unverified result). Provisions that by their nature should survive termination — including payment obligations, warranty disclaimers, and limitations of liability — survive.
8. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of ⚠︎ placeholder — governing law / jurisdiction, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. The courts of that jurisdiction have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes, subject to any non-excludable rights you have to bring proceedings in your local courts as a consumer.
